COMPANY HISTORY
V-LABS, INC., was established in 1979 as an independent, private organization. They
manufacture carbohydrates, polysaccharides, and glycosidic enzymes used in research in the
food, biochemical, and pharmaceutical industries, as well as in universities and research
institutions. They have utilized membrane separations in the isolation of natural
polysaccharides and have developed molecular weight standards of these polysaccharides.
The membrane methodologies have been developed for their own product line, as well as in
consultations for industrial customers.
V-LABS, INC., also offers analytical service for carbohydrates and polysaccharides,
including gas chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography, ultraviolet and
infrared spectroscopy. They also determine residual solvents and off-flavors in oilseed
products, feeds, packaging materials, and plastics. They have studied extensively the
development of rancidity in oils and oil-containing products such as nuts and grains.
V-LABS, INC., has performed contract research for pharmaceutical, chemical and food
companies. They have worked on glycosaminoglycans under contract. They have been awarded
three Phase I Small Business Innovation Research Grants. The National Science Foundation
award is entitled "Development of New Chelating Techniques with Chitosan
Derivatives". The National Institutes of Health awards are "Preparation of
Glycosaminoglycans Using Membranes" and "Sulfated Chitosan Derivatives as
Anti-HIV-1 Agents".
